History

InnerDaemon was founded in 2005 to help small to medium-sized businesses gain greater value from their investments in technology hardware, software and services.  In short, we help our clients to make the most of their budget by advising on technology that suits the nature of the small and agile business.

Our business was created one simple principal, that: “If it’s not right, don’t use it”.

Having previously worked for companies both large and small, in the private and public sector, we believe that our wide range of experience, and intimate understanding of the small to medium-sized business puts us in a unique position to help our clients achieve their goals of financial stability, growth.  Most importantly, our expertise allows us to implement solutions that enable the use of technology as a visible tool, instead of a hindrance that is too often clouded in smoke and mirrors.

What's in a Name?

Here comes the science bit...

The word Daemon (pronounced /'deimən/ or /'dimən/), is today used to describe the malevolent supernatural beings of Ancient Greece and should be considered separate to the North and Western European word, Demon, which means something altogether different!

That said, Daemon was also used for a time in medieval Northern Europe to describe the beasts and beings called upon by so-called witches and wizards but we'll steer clear of this usage as quite frankly, it's not relevant and we don't like talking about ritual burnings (The Wicker Man still scares the bejezus out of us).

In relation to computer science, which is where we take our meaning, Daemon was first coined by the programmers of MIT's Project Mac, who took the name from Maxwell's demon, an imaginary being from a famous thought experiment that constantly works in the background, sorting molecules.  Our ethic is built on this description.  When engaged, we remain (mostly) hidden from view; and we strive to ensure that your business is not visibly affected by our presence or the tasks we complete.
